Canadian singer Ria Mae returned with her latest EP, titled Stars, today (March 8).
The 8-track set showcases Mae’s proficiency as an emotive songwriter. She boldly lays out the terms of a budding relationship on “Not My Type,” and admits her addiction to the beautiful “Trixi” on another sultry track: “Please don’t lose my number/ Hey, Trixi, can you meet me by the corner?”
The hopeful title track of the album, which Mae wrote alongside Erik Alcock (P!nk, Eminem) and Calum Brockie, is inspired by the quality of perseverance. “It’s a song about a tough journey, but never giving up or losing faith,” Mae said in a release.
Mae — whose album My Love was nominated for pop album of the year at the 2018 JUNO Awards — has toured alongside fellow Canadians Scott Helman and Tegan and Sara, and will play a handful of dates in Halifax this weekend to celebrate the release of Stars.
