She’s so rare! Selena Gomez unveiled the iridescent video for her new single “Rare” on Friday (Jan. 10).
In the BRTHR-directed bvisual, the pop star wanders through a fanstastical forest filled with prismatic rainbows, bubbles and glittering spiderwebs while wearing a golden halter-top dress fit for a goddess. (Later in the clip, she poses vampily on a rotating bed as techicolor butterflies float around her.)
“It feels like you don’t care/ Why don’t you recognize I’m so rare?/ Always there/ You don’t do the same for me/ That’s not fair/ I don’t have it all, I’m not claiming to/ But I know that I’m special, yeah/ And I’ll bet there’s somebody else out there/ To tell me I’m rare, to make me feel rare,” she sings on the track’s hypnotic chorus, as she reminds a disappointing lover of her inviolable worth.
The sparkling single serves as the title track to Gomez’s long-anticipated third studio album, and follows No. 1 hit “Lose You To Love Me” and similarly confident dance-pop jam “Look At Her Now.”
