A new OneRepublic album may soon be upon us.
In a handwritten letter posted to the band’s website, band leader Ryan Tedder wrote an update on the group’s upcoming fourth studio album and thanking fans for nine years of support — “In ‘band years’ that’s practically 30,” he joked.
“Making an album is never easy. Attempting to make the greatest album of your life is even less easy,” he continued. “That’s what we have been doing, and while beauty is in the eye of the beholder and musical excellence is subjective, we think we have accomplished what we set out to do.”
The website also offers exclusive updates from the band for an email signup, as well as a timer counting down to May 13 — possibly the new album’s release date?
Tedder went on, writing that the album writing process began in August 2014 while on tour in Austin, Texas, and carried on through Dublin, Paris, London, Italy, Estonia, Turkey, Russia, South America and all around the world.
“Necessity is the mother of invention,” he continued in his note. “It was necessary for us to write/record this album on the road… and all the truly inspiring places of the world invented the sound we chased.”
