One Direction performed at BBC Radio 1’s intimate Live Lounge on Thursday (Nov. 12) in advance of the band’s release of its new album, Made in the A.M., delivering a set that mixed new songs, old favorites and covers — including one of particular significance.
The more than 20 minute set included a cover of Rihanna, Kanye West and Paul McCartney‘s “FourFiveSeconds,” and closed with Natalie Imbruglia‘s “Torn,” which the band noted it had probably not performed since on the The X Factor together when they formed in 2010.
Introducing “FourFiveSeconds,” Niall Horan said, “This is a cover that we picked up, we wanted to do it because it’s a good song, it’s been a big song this year, so we wanted to do our little version of it.”
As well, the set included Made in the A.M. singles “Drag Me Down,” “Perfect” and “Infinity,” as well as the band’s Midnight Memories classic “Story Of My Life.”
