Of Monsters and Men are fever dreaming on their new single “Alligator,” dropped Friday (May 3).
The group made their long-awaited return with “Alligator,” the first song the band has unveiled since their 2015 album Beneath the Skin. While strikingly different from the Icelandic group’s folk-pop debut, My Head Is an Animal, the track continues the indie rock trajectory the band established in Beneath The Skin.
“Shake it out / It’s just what I’m feeling,” sings lead vocalist Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir, who also wrote the song. “And now I take control / I’m fever dreaming.”
“We are so excited about Alligator, the first release from our upcoming album,” said the band jointly in a statement. “The song very much speaks to the excitement and energy that we feel about being back. We can’t wait to share more music and see everyone again.”
Of Monsters and Men also announced their third album will be released sometime in 2019, but didn’t specify a date. “Alligator” was co-produced by OMAM and Rich Costey, who produced the group’s last album and Muse‘s Simulation Theory last year.
