Indie pop duo NUEX have released the visual for “Billie,” premiering on Billboard today (Oct. 29). The track comes from their debut EP, Affectus, which arrived in May earlier this year.
The black-and-white, noir-inspired visual shows the aftermath of a party, with balloons scattered on the floor and flutes of champagne littering a table as the remnant of a cigarette burns into the air.
The song, which chronicles the longing for success and the molding of a personality to appeal to others, highlights the highs and lows of being devoured by a cruel and shallow world that is obsessed with fame and fortune.
“Named after Billie Holiday, who after a monumental career of firsts and achievements, died an alcoholic with cents to her name, ‘Billie’ explores the psyche of the star, and the struggle behind the desire to keep shining,” says the duo.
NUEX (singer-songwriter Camille and drummer-producer Teddy) are currently in the process of finalizing their second EP to follow up Affectus.
