You know Nick Jonas can rock it as one-third of the Jonas Brothers as well as bring the double-duty heat solo, which he did while hosting and performing on last weekend’s Saturday Night Live. But did you also know that he and his bros are also magical talismans for pro athletes? Well, on Tuesday night’s (March 2) Tonight Show Nick explained to Jimmy Fallon that the “Jonas Blessing” is real.
Nick explained that when he, Joe and Kevin reformed for their 2019 Happiness Begins Tour, they noticed a number of “high-performing athletes” in the audience.
“The first was Cody Bellinger, who then went on to win the World Series with the Dodgers,” Jonas, 28, said. “We had Patrick Mahomes, who in the 2020 Super Bowl won the Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs. He came to a show in KC. And then Lewis Hamilton, who surpassed the all-time [Formula 1] record, he went on to, after he came to a show, to do that.”
Wait, really? Yes, in fact, Nick — who said he was the one who really identified the winning trend — started to wonder if the JoBros could possibly monetize their seeming sports good luck charm energy. “I was saying, ‘We’re going to have to start charging these athletes,'” he joked. “If they want the Jonas Blessing, to come to a show and then go on to win a championship, they’re going to have to pay up.” For the record, he claimed that the bros gave Tom Brady a private, COVID-safe command performance before he won last month’s Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Jonas, who also talked about his return to The Voice, the treacherous photo shoot for the cover of his Spaceman solo album and upcoming film Chaos Walking (out March 5), slipped on some noise-canceling headphones for a game of “Whisper Challenge.” He nailed it on the first round, quickly identifying Post Malone’s “Sunflower,” then totally stumping Fallon with Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts.”
