Las Vegas band NakedElephant have dropped a one-of-a-kind new music video for their track “Raspberry Kiss” which is premiering exclusively on Billboard.
The video features an innovative 360-degree format, which allows viewers to see every single angle of what’s happening in the clip and control their viewing experience. It transports you into an elaborate fantasy world featuring hazy dance parties, elegant ballerinas and an impressive mansion set to the psychedelic track.
“With the help of Spherie and Spice VR, drones were outfitted with cameras that can film in 360° and some state of the art racing components so that it could handle flights indoors,” says band member Josh Royse on the concept of the 360-degree video. “We designed complex flight patterns through live actors at eye level in incredibly close proximity to them and turned every impossible shot in my shot list into something magical.”
Royse adds that there were no guidelines to follow, which made the filming process so unique. “We did a lot of things with drones and ego perspective helmet mounts that we had never seen in 360° films before. There was no protocol follow…our team was firing from the hip in almost every scene.”
When filming the video, Royse said that every little thing was a challenge: lighting, flight patterns, scene direction, choreography and set design. But they were able to put together a dazzling video from a distinct perspective. “Spice VR and Spherie did an amazing job — it was my first time producing and co-directing film but their creativity, ambition and talent made it seamless. I felt like I had been doing this for a lifetime already.”
