It may come as no surprise, but the Parents Television Council isn’t happy with Miley Cyrus hosting this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.
In an interview with Gossip Cop, PTC President Tim Winter said the awards show will be more “profane” and “edgy” than last year’s show. “It’s not going to be safe for children to watch,” Winter told Gossip Cop. “So, they must rate it TV-MA. With Miley’s shtick, it’s probably going to be very edgy, very profane, very sexually explicit.” The VMAs are typically rated TV-14.

Winter also said Cyrus has been “dropping F-bombs in her announcement on social media,” which foreshadows what kind of show she will put on next month. See for yourself below:
Winter did say, however, that Cyrus can do whatever she wants because she is the performer and is paid to be provocative. He told Gossip Cop he believes MTV wants Cyrus to bring attention to the network. “I think it’s unfortunate she built her entire career on the backs of parents and now she’s basically giving them the middle finger,” Winter added.

Cyrus is best remembered for her twerking performance at the 2013 VMAs, when she performed “Blurred Lines” with Robin Thicke and twerked against the singer. Cyrus did not perform at the 2014 MTV VMAs, but she did win video of the year for “Wrecking Ball.”
