Miley Cyrus is back in the smoke zone. The singer, who earlier this year revealed that she decided to quit getting high while she was focusing on some important projects, recently told England’s The Sun that she’s back on the sticky icky train. “We toke a little. Every now and then, you know,” Cyrus said about her mom, Tish, getting her back into weed.
The singer — who has not been shy about her love of lighting up in the past — is on the promotional rounds to discuss her new single with producer Mark Ronson “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart,” and in the Sun interview, she explained, “My mum got me back on it. When I’m just working I don’t think I function at my highest, most intelligent, most being-able-to-be-as-aware-and-as-present, so I don’t smoke when I work.”
It’s a turn-around from what the 26-year-old star told Jimmy Kimmel earlier this year. “I want to be, but no,” Cyrus told the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host back in May about her decision to quit indulging just as marijuana became legal for recreational consumption in California. She said she’d taken a break because “I am very focused on what I’m working on right now. And I also think it is the most magical… amazing. It’s my first and true love. But it’s just not for me at this time in my life. But I’m sure there will be a day when I happily indulge.”
Cyrus doubled down on the return of her dank days in an interview with Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM show on Monday morning (Dec. 10), revealing that she still has the iconic foam finger from her infamous 2013 VMA performance with Robin Thicke and that, yup, her mom is definitely to blame for her renewed indulgence. “My mom is gonna kill me, but yeah, my mom smokes a lot of weed,” she said, joking that Tish has threatened to quit managing her to start a weed farm.
