Miley Cyrus stopped by the Call Her Daddy podcast on Thursday (Aug. 13) and spilled some serious tea about losing her virginity to Liam Hemsworth.
“I didn’t go all the way with a dude until I was 16…but I ended up marrying the guy,” she told host Alexandra Cooper of her ex-husband, whom she first met while filming The Last Song back in 2009. “I lied and said he wasn’t the first so I didn’t seem like a loser.”
However, Cyrus also got candid that Hemsworth was far from her first sexual experience. “I was attracted to girls way before I was ever attracted to guys. When I was like 11 or 12, my friends were starting to tell me what they were doing with guys and I didn’t really understand it, so I got most of my girlfriends to hook up with me,” the pop singer said, before adding, “The first time I ever hooked up with anyone was with a girl — two of them.”
After getting together on the set of The Last Song, Cyrus and Hemsworth dated off-and-on for nearly a decade before finally tying the knot in Dec. 2018. (The pair split after just eight months of marriage in Aug. 2019, when the singer announced their separation.)
Following the break-up, Cyrus bounced back by dating fellow singer Cody Simpson for nearly a year. However, she confirmed via social media on Thursday that the couple’s relationship had ended. “So today, it came out that me and my boyfriend have broken up, it was confirmed by a ‘reliable source’ even though no one is reliable in a relationship except the two individuals that are participating in it,” she told her followers on Instagram Live.
“But, for right now, two halves can’t make a whole and we’re individually just working on ourselves to become the people that we wanna be,” the pop star continued. “Like everybody else at this age, we’re just deciding who we wanna be with our lives, what we wanna do with our lives. And so, don’t make it some drama story if next week we’re out hanging out or getting pizza. We’ve been friends for 10 years and we’re gonna continue to be friends.”
News of the split came just one day before Cyrus unveiled her long-awaited comeback single “Midnight Sky,” which is set to be featured on her upcoming seventh studio album She Is Miley Cyrus.
