MGMT‘s song “In The Afternoon” first arrived during a performance in Las Vegas last month, but the band is breathing new life into it by releasing the song today (Dec. 11) as a limited-edition 12-in. single, paired with the B-side “As You Move Throughout the World.”
And as delightful a title as “In The Afternoon” is, the accompanying visual (directed by MGMT themselves) follows up as a distorted blast from the past morphed with LSD sensory effects. The technicolor clip features historical stock footage, warped images of nature and colorful bursts projected onto band members Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser’s faces.
The psychedelic pop single is the band’s first independent label release off their own MGMT Records. “In The Afternoon” will only be available through their online store, where you can pre-order it.
