Meghan Trainor performed a medley of “All About That Bass,” “Like I’m Gonna Lose You,” “Let You Be Right” and “No Excuses” on the Today plaza in Rockefeller Center in NYC to kick off the Citi Concert Series on Tuesday (May 15).
Today hosts Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie asked Trainor about her upcoming album, but Trainor kept quiet and called Kotb a “sneaky girl” for asking about the title of her third studio album. “My songwriting has never been better, and I’m so proud of it,” Trainor said. “And I’m in love so there’s a lot of happy, even more happier songs and more love songs, which I didn’t have before.”
The “Dear Future Husband” singer gushed about her fiancé, Spy Kids actor Daryl Sabara, during the interview while talking about their upcoming wedding. “I mean, I don’t know when or where, but we’re going to do it,” Trainor said. “I’m locking it down. He’s mine.”
The pink-haired pop star released two new singles, “Let You Be Right” and “Can’t Dance,” earlier this month and performed the first on Today. With two background dancers, backup singers and a band, Trainor performed one of her biggest hits from her 2014 EP Title, “All About That Bass.”
She later sang her soulful ballad “Like I’m Going to Lose You” before switching up her set to more upbeat tracks, like the bass-bumping single from the new album “Let You Be Right” and her pop-country-disco genre-crossing song “No Excuses” she released earlier this year.
