Meghan Trainor dropped the soul-stirring “Run Like the River” on Friday (July 26), the first taste of the soundtrack from the upcoming animated feature Playmobil: The Movie, which features her voice work as the Fairy Godmother along with Jim Gaffigan, Daniel Radcliffe, Anya Taylor-Joy, Kenan Thompson and Adam Lambert. The track written by the singer will appear on an album featuring a score by Grammy-winning composer Heitor Pereira (Despicable Me, Smallfoot).
Scooting along on a piano vibe and an hip-swaying island groove, the uplifting tune is an explosion of positivity, with Trainor singing, “I believe in you, you know what to do/ Be the hero that’s like no one else/ You’ve been here before, closing every door/ Happiness is what you owe yourself,” before the rainbow-splashed chorus kicks the good vibes up 10 more notches.
The 25-track album from the film about the beloved plastic toys (due Aug. 2) can be pre-ordered here, and it also features Lambert’s “Give the People What They Want”; the film is slated to hit theaters on Aug. 30.
