Is it Halloween already? In Maroon 5‘s just-released “Animals” video, frontman Adam Levine stalks his new wife, Victoria’s Secret model Behati Prinsloo, in between scenes from his creepy lair of flesh and blood.
It’s a fittingly disturbing visual for a very animalistic song. Some lyrics from the chorus: “Baby, I’m preying on you tonight/Hunt you down, eat you alive/Just like animals.” Levine’s stalker (you can tell the difference between the rock singer and his alter ego thanks to his serial-killer glasses) takes photos of Prinsloo as she sleeps, follows her to the club and visualizes the two having sex as blood pours down on them. Yikes.
The clip calls to mind the 2000 Christian Bale movie American Psycho. Levine doesn’t wield an ax like Patrick Bateman, but he sure nails his happy-scary facial expressions.
