Mark Hamill didn’t know what he was getting into when he tweeted “Thank you, next” Saturday evening (Nov. 10).
Twitter freak-out, commence: Fans assumed he was quoting Ariana Grande‘s new hit, and she apparently thought the same.
“i can’t breathe,” Grande wrote, retweeting the Star Wars mainstay.
On Sunday, once Hamill realized what was going on, he admitted, “You know you’re out of it when someone suggests you tweet what you think is just a random phrase that turns out to be the title of the new album by @ArianaGrande, one of the most popular artists in the history of showbiz.”
He apologized for not using “U” in place of “you” — “#ImSorryAri #ItsUnotYou” — and even pinned the tweet to the top of his Twitter feed.
“i’m gonna tattoo this to my forehead,” Grande responded. When one of her followers pointed out that she just got props from Luke Skywalker, she said, “honest to god i’m not okay rn.”
