After several weeks of teasing, Mariah Carey finally gave her fans what they wanted by releasing the full video of her steamy ballad “With You” on Wednesday night (Oct. 10).
The warm, love-sick piano ballad accented by Carey’s signature breathtaking vocal performance is accompanied by an appropriately elegant, black and white visual. In classic Carey mode, the singer creates a sense of intimacy while highlighting her lush life by stunting in different spots across Los Angeles. Channeling her inner diva — Mimi looks incredible as she dramatically poses on a balcony, lies on the floor of a mansion, drives a car around the city, sips on some tea and flawlessly walks down Hollywood Boulevard in a fur coat and sunglasses.
Carey simultaneously exudes confidence and vulnerability as she sings the sweet lyrics, “Playing confessions, and our bodies blending/ I’m in love, it’s true/ Yeah, damn I fucks with you/ And we all make mistakes sometimes/ But we muddle through.”
Debuting the song live at the AMAs stage, Mimi made sure to cement her spot as a vocal powerhouse in a performance accented by her signature high-tone whistle notes. “With You” marks the second track from her upcoming, yet-to-be-titled album, followed by the confident, kiss-off anthem “GTFO.”
