“Heavy texting guilt trips,” the Seattle rapper joked backstage with Billboard at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas.
The pair performed the song — which dropped earlier in the week — live during festival. It will be featured on Macklemore’s upcoming solo album, his first since 2005’s Gemini.
Backstage after the performance, the rapper explained how “Good Old Days” came about. “Kesha was in Seattle and she wanted to take an off day, and I talked her into coming into the studio. We made [the song] in a couple hours,” he explained.
Macklemore said Kesha was “nothing but awesome to work with” and described the singer as having a “beautiful voice” and a “beautiful soul.”
