On Tuesday (July 23), Mabel unveiled the new song “Bad Behaviour,” a smooth, tropical follow-up to her breakthrough hit “Don’t Call Me Up.”
“Don’t wait, not a minute/ We here, no limit, no pressure, baby,” the English songstress croons over a bed of steel drums and bass, showing off her sultry “cool girl” attitude.
In addition to the new song, Mabel also announced her High Expectations headlining tour, which kicks off at The Sinclair in Cambridge, Mass., on Aug. 12 and wraps up at LA’s Troubadour on Aug. 20.
“I wrote ‘Bad Behaviour’ after a night out when somebody had been like ‘you’re acting crazy, you need to tone it out a bit,'” Mabel laughed when she sat down with Beats 1 host Zane Lowe, who made the song his World Record. “And you know when you sort of have that feeling and you’re like, ‘Oh my God, no, am I being too crazy?’ And then woke up the next day and was like, ‘I wasn’t, I was just having a good time!'”
She then went on to talk about her collaborators: “I worked with somebody called Joel Pott from Athlete, like early, early on. And then I feel like Stormzy from the beginning was very supportive.”
Mabel’s debut album, High Expectations, will be released Aug. 2 via Capitol Records.
