Over the new wave sheen of synths and fuzzed-out guitars, the MS MR singer belts out a knowing ode to the act of falling in love for love’s sake.
“Caught, caught up in the habit/Of never wanting what I’m chasing but always having to have it/And I’m al-always chasing the magic/But I can’t seem to grab it ‘cuz I don’t deserve to have it,” she sings dreamily, a punchy kick-snare propelling the song toward the chorus.
“‘Falling to Fall’ feels like classic modern new wave,” LPX tells Billboard. “It’s self deprecating and forgiving, while reflecting on the masochistic routine of looking for, finding and falling out of love.”
Written by Plaplinger, Oscar-winning songwriter Anthony Rossomando and Jimmy Harry (who also produced the track), the song will appear on Junk Of The Heart, the Neon Gold co-founder’s sophomore solo EP as LPX.
Junk Of The Heart is out everywhere tomorrow (March 22). Stream “Falling To Fall” one day early below.
