Lorde kicked off the North American leg of her world tour Thursday night (March 1), and she’s already given fans a lot to look forward to on future stops. While performing in Milwaukee at the BMO Harris Bradley Center, she covered Frank Ocean’s “Solo,” and played an unreleased track from Melodrama.
Hunched over a beat-maker, Lorde debuted a haunting pop song not found on last year’s Melodrama. In February, she teased that her upcoming tour may involve one specific b-side that she was excited to unveil to fans: “I may or may not have dug up a song that we wrote during the Melodrama sessions that didn’t make it. One that I really love,” she said on an Instagram story, without naming the track.
Along with her own never-before-heard cuts, Lorde debuted her rendition to “Solo,” a track from Ocean’s 2016 album Blonde. She kept the song fairly close to the original while putting a few of her own vocal spins to it.
The North American part of Lorde’s tour will continue on until April, with opening acts Run The Jewels, Tove Styrke, and Mitski along on the way. Watch both performances below.
