Yesterday, Wireless Festival released the lineup for their upcoming festival in London this summer. London-based singer Lily Allen re-shared the lineup, with the names of the male performers whited out, shedding light on the minimal amount of female performers on the bill.

A Twitter user intended to lighten the conversation by altering the flyer to add female artists SZA, Kehlani, Nao, Jhene Aiko, Jorja Smith, Kelela and more to the lineup. Wireless confirmed this was not real, via email.

Allen engaged with some responses to her tweet, alleging this is part of the reason women in the music industry are not coming forward with their #MeToo experiences. “Money is power,” she tweeted.
The singer also talk about the importance of working with companies such as Girls I Rate, a nonprofit organization that focuses on bringing together women within creative industries who share the same artistic and social ideologies.
She hopes that more female acts will be added to the lineup. Check out more of Lily Allen’s tweets and some users in support.
Halsey, currently #5, expressed desire to play festivals a few weeks ago but they won’t ask her. Camila Cabello, currently #1, is also a safe festival bet. Alessia Cara also has had a great year on the charts and even has a few festivals booked, though they’re not major.

But there ARE a lot of women who have killed it this year in these genres. Like I rate the likes of Mostack, Ramz and Jaykae, but you can’t definitively say they’re above SZA, H.E.R, Jorja Smith, Lady Leshurr, Raye, Ray BLK etc. Wireless keep doing this, so it should be addressed

Saw this. Thought “that can’t be real” Checked and sadly it is. That’s an appalling representation of women for a music festival in 2018. https://t.co/kQt5Y6RcSv

I was JUST talking about this yesterday. The lack of women on music festivals is mind blowing to me. Smh https://t.co/qzK2GKcI6l

Wow — this is really terrible.

men making excuses for shit like this is so funny. pop culture and the media has a massive effect on how we view other people in our own lives, this is obv. so 3 women performers at a fairly popular festival is… ludicrous. no excuses. https://t.co/SXasRu8Rd4
