Maggie Rogers rocked the stage on The Late Show on Tuesday night (Jan. 22) with a vibrant, loose performance of “Burning” from her recently released debut album, Heard It in a Past Life.
Wearing a flowy, mustard yellow pantsuit, Rogers was accompanied by her funky band and house band leader Jon Batiste, who helped propel the high-spirited pop tune along on his mini grand piano. The Maryland native commanded the stage as she did a loose-limbed dance, enthusiastically dancing to the song’s insistent groove, singing, “And you said, let me help you wake you up/ Let me help you break you up/ Let me help you open up/ I’m in love, I’m alive, oh, I’m burning.”
Warm tones and blazing sun images rising on the background screens set the mood for the feel-good anthem.
