Tori Kelly brought some gospel flavor to The Late Late Show on Monday night (Sept. 24) with a simmering performance of her gospel-pop hit “Never Alone.” Performing the powerful single from her recently released gospel-influenced album Hiding Place backed by a full band, 10-person gospel choir and three back-up singers, the Grammy-winner’s voice soared as she locked into the inspiring chorus, “I’ve cried many rivers/ I’ve walked through some pain/ I’ve seen my world crumble/ And I’ve carried the shame/ But I know somebody, He calls me His own/ I can hear heaven singing out/ Oh-oh-oh, you’re never alone.”
The song — co-written with Kirk Franklin — features an uplifting message about setting aside material pursuits and focusing on walking with God. Franklin danced into frame mid-way through the performance, throwing down some words of encouragement and lifting the choir to higher heights as the song came to a thundering conclusion.
“Never Alone” jetted to the No. 2 spot on Billboard‘s Hot Gospel Songs chart dated Sept. 8, leading the charge for all eight songs from the album to debut on the chart.
