Barring any delays, Lana Del Rey’s next album may have a release date.
A YouTube video from the account ‘lanadelreyrussia’ surfaced today (Feb. 8) during which the singer met with fans. One asked Del Rey when her new album, “Ultraviolence,” would be released. “It’s coming out soon,” she replied. “May 1.”
Once she found out the conversation was being recorded on video, she backtracked slightly, simply saying “I think so” when asked again; the date has not been officially confirmed by her record label.
In the video, Del Rey claims “Ultraviolence” “is so good” that it made her forget about her last record, 2012’s “Born to Die” and subsequent EP “Paradise.”
“Ultraviolence” will mark the singer’s third studio LP. Upon its release, “Born to Die” shot to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and has since been certified Gold by the RIAA. The “Paradise” EP reached No. 10.
She also benefited from her first smash U.S. hit in “Summertime Sadness” last year, which was remixed by Cedric Gervais for radio and won a GRAMMY for best remixed recording, non-classical.
More recently, Del Rey released a short film, “Tropico,” which debuted last December.
