Leonard Cohen‘s legacy endures and continues to grow a year after his passing. During a tribute concert to the late singer — who passed in Nov. 2016 — Lana Del Rey was invited to the stage by Cohen’s son Adam, also a singer, to perform “Chelsea Hotel No. 2.”
Adam Cohen performed amongst a star studded lineup in honor of his father, including Elvis Costello, Feist, Sting, k.d. lang, Damien Rice and more at the show at the Bell Centre in Montreal on Monday night (Nov. 6). Watch Del Rey perform alongside Adam during his set in a fan-shot video posted to Instagram, below.
Del Rey previously recorded her own version of the 1974 track, which she made available via Vevo in 2013. She posted a heartbreaking message to Instagram underneath a shot of the video, which read, “I’d be lying if I said it didn’t kind of break my heart that I never got to tell you how much you changed me. Not that it would’ve mattered to ya, it’s just that other than Bob and Joan you were the only person I ever really felt spoke my language. I love you as a real fan and I always looked for a little bit of you in all of my future friends. God bless.”
