Monday night (Feb. 5) singer Lana Del Rey was overcome with emotion and broke down in tears during her concert stop in Atlanta, Georgia after a man was arrested for an alleged kidnapping plot against the singer three days earlier in Orlando, Florida.
In an Instagram post from a Del Rey fan account, the singer can be seen pacing back and forth on stage while wiping away tears from her face. “I am actually just feeling a little more emotional than I thought,” the “Lust for Life” singer shared before fans gave her encouraging cheers. “After what happened in Orlando, I just really wanted to be here with you guys tonight.”
The singer went on to explain that she was feeling totally fine before she hit the stage but got “a little bit nervous” upon taking the stage as it was her first show since the scary incident. Still a bit choked up, Lana told the crowd she was super happy to be with them and asked them to bear with her in case she was a bit “feathery” during her performance.
The singer’s anxiety comes after Riverview, Florida resident Michael Hunt attempted to make contact with Del Rey outside of her Amway Center show after posting messages on social media that the Orlando Sentinel reported as “cryptic and threatening.” The 43-year-old was found a block away from the concert venue carrying a knife and tickets to the concert and has since been charged with Aggravated Stalking with a Credible Threat and Attempted Kidnapping with a Weapon.
