In 2013, Lana Del Rey donated $10,000 to a Kickstarter funding a short film called Hi How Are You Daniel Johnston? Turns out, that’s not all she contributed to the project.
Lana Del Rey’s Four Most Ambitious Music Videos
For the film, which premieres in Los Angeles Saturday, Del Rey covers Daniel Johnston’s song “Some Things Last A Long Time” off his 11th album, 1990. A taste of the cover now appears in a trailer for the film, teasing its digital release on Nov. 11.
As the video explains, this film is not meant to be a documentary on the eccentric icon, but rather a look inside his head. Mac Miller also contributed to fund the project and Soko stars as Johnston’s long-lost love, Laurie.
