Lady Gaga released the “Artpop” track “Do What U Want” as a single last year, but strangely never shared an official music video for it.
Today TMZ leaked a 30-second semi-NSFW video clip that may reveal why. The video features snippets of what is allegedly Gaga’s “Do What U Want Video,” featuring R. Kelly and photographer Terry Richardson. According to the report, the video was scrapped because Gaga’s team feared the presence of her two co-stars would cause too much controversy amidst the video’s sexual themes.
R. Kelly was tried on counts of child pornography and found not guilty in 2008. Richardson has recently been accused of lewd sexual conduct by numerous models involved in his shoots. Given the history of her collaborators and the overt sexual nature of the video (at one point, Kelly reaches under a sheet covering a naked Gaga, causing her to moan) her team certainly had reason to fear controversy.
Gaga has not responded to TMZ’s scoop.
