Thursday night (Nov. 30) was a big night for Kelly Clarkson, as she received the Powerhouse Award at the 2017 Billboard Women In Music Awards, performing a booming rendition of her song “Meaning of Life” and delivering an inspiring speech on how there’s “room for everyone” in the music industry.
But ahead of her moment on stage, the “Love So Soft” singer revealed something not so exciting on the pink carpet. As Clarkson chatted with Extra‘s Renee Bargh, Bargh noted how happy Clarkson seemed when the 35-year-old singer surprisingly added, “Other than we got robbed last night. … Yeah, it was crazy. We got here and our whole house was like bashed in. It was crazy.”
As for what was taken from her home, Clarkson said, “materialistic things we didn’t care about” before adding a creepy detail: “The guy was in our kids’ room. … so that was a little weird. Other than that, everyone is safe and good.”
If this series of unfortunate events was distracting her at all, her performance and acceptance speech at Billboard‘s Women In Music event did not lend itself as evidence. You can watch her moving performance of “Meaning of Life” and her speech below.
