It’s that time of week when Kelly Clarkson proves she can sing anything and everything, all while adding her own signature style.
For her latest Kellyoke segment on Thursday (Oct. 1), Clarkson took on Tegan and Sara’s 2013 hit “Closer,” putting a flawless rock twist on the synth-pop track. “It’s not just all physical/ I’m the type who won’t get oh so critical/ So let’s make things physical/ I won’t treat you like you’re oh so typical/ I won’t treat you like you’re oh so typical,” she belted on the chorus.
Backed by a full band, the Kelly Clarkson Show host not only hit the high notes throughout the performance, but sang the last chorus in an entirely higher octave than the recorded version. Nailed it!

The sister duo also applauded the cover on Instagram, writing, “DAMN it’s cool to hear someone with a next-level-kick-ass-for-real-legit singing voice absolutely SLAYING one of our songs. Meanwhile, Clarkson will return to host the 2020 Billboard Music Awards, airing on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 8:00 p.m. ET on NBC.
