Kelly Clarkson‘s adoration of A Star Is Born made its way to her stage on Friday night (Feb. 15), as the singer tried her hand at the song that everyone can’t get out of their head this awards season, “Shallow.”
Before diving into the Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper collaboration (and singing both parts), Clarkson was bashful and offered plenty of praise for Gaga, as well as a disclaimer to the crowd who’d come to see her in Green Bay, Wisc.
“It’s cool just to know that someone that talented is also really nice,” she gushed. “Anyway, I’ve been rooting for her for awhile. This song, I just, I love it. It’s from that movie that she’s nominated for a billion awards for, and I hope she wins… I hope I don’t suck, and if I do, I hope she doesn’t see it!”
Lady Gaga performed “Shallow” at the Grammy Awards on Feb. 10, where the song also won two Grammys, one for best song written for visual media and best pop duo/group performance. She and Cooper will reprise their duet at the 91st Academy Awards on Feb. 24, and could potentially collect another honor as “Shallow” is nominated for an Oscar in the category of best original song.
