Kelly Clarkson took to Twitter on Thursday (Sept. 20) to call out iHeartRadio for not playing her music on their stations.
iHeartRadio initially tweeted a message praising the award-winning pop singer for performing at their iHeartRadio Music Festival this weekend in Las Vegas and for branching out into daytime television with her just-announced talk show, saying that Clarkson is “doing it all.”
Clarkson was quick to fire back, tweeting that she was doing everything besides getting her music played on iHeartRadio’s channels. “I guess I’m cool enough to invite but not cool enough to play my record,” she said, expressing her distaste for being excluded from airplay.
Fans were quick to jump on Clarkson’s side and praised her for having the courage to speak up. Clarkson is set to perform on Saturday at the iHeartRadio Music Festival, which kicks off Friday night in Las Vegas with Fleetwood Mac, Mariah Carey, Childish Gambino and more.
Throughout her career, Clarkson has found plenty of success on the Pop Songs airplay chart, scoring four No. 1 hits: “Since U Been Gone,” “Because of You,” “Miss Independent” and “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You).” But when it comes to her most recent project, 2017’s Meaning of Life, her biggest single from the album, “Love So Soft,” only managed to peak at No. 21 on the chart.
