Katy Perry gets candid about crying to her own music, her new hairdo, her first kiss, her kind of odd showering activities and more in a new interview and video for W magazine.
Her first kiss was during a game of spin the bottle at a co-ed party in 6th grade and it felt like a “wet fish” in her mouth she said in the video.
“It feels like you’re getting invaded in your mouth — by a slug,” adds Katy. “I did it and then I slowly turned away, ‘This is disgusting!'”
As for the shower, she says, “It’s very fun: singing in the shower and scrubbing” your boyfriend. And she doesn’t just sing her own songs, it’s whatever comes to mind (“I like to move it, move it — even crazy things like that,” she says). She also keeps her phone on standby to jot down ideas right after hopping out of the shower.
Later, Perry confesses, “I always want to be moved to tears.” And continued to say she has even cried during her own songs, as they can be very personal. Sometimes it is too hard for her to even perform the already recorded tracks as she gets too upset. It has even kept her from singing certain songs on tour.
Meanwhile, in the magazine interview, she says that her short haircut has brought a new joy to her life and she feels “very free” because of it.
“Everything is more fun with short hair!” she said, “I can just get up and go. I feel so liberated with this hair now. In general, I feel 360-degrees liberated — all around. Whether it’s politically, mentally, spiritually, sexually. I feel liberated from all the things that don’t serve me. I’m surrendering and embracing my 30s. You couldn’t give me anything to go back to my 20s. To get to this place, I had to do some much-needed work on my heart, soul, mind, and body. Since doing that, a lot of beautiful things started to bloom again.”
