Katy Perry dropped an animated video for “Never Really Over” on Wednesday in the lead-up to Friday’s (Aug. 28) release of her Smile album. (The clip also debuted on the same day Perry and fiancé Orlando Bloom welcomed their first child together, baby Daisy Dove Bloom.)
The trippy clip is a VR journey through a day in the life of the pop icon, from a morning brush to breakfast, complete with a psychedelic dish-washing dance party and… then the same thing all over again.
The Groundhog Day-style clip is a Katy-eye-view of two days in the life of an unseen woman who finally gets fed up with going through the same brain-deadening routine every day to soundtracked by the song that first hit our ears in May 2019.
“Just cuz this song came out in May 2019 doesn’t mean it’s ever. really. over…Here’s NRO based on my ACTUAL experiences with dishes during quarantine…they were #NeverReallyOver,” Perry tweeted. The latest in the “Smile Video Series” comes just before Perry is slated to drop her fifth full-length album.
