We’ve been awaiting new music from Vampire Diaries actress/model Kat Graham for a minute, and thankfully, Graham has returned with a new track from her forthcoming spring album. Check out “1991,” which is premiering exclusively on Billboard.com:
Produced with longtime collaborator Jean-Yves “Jeeve” Ducornet, “1991” is a New Jack dance track that clearly evokes the year in its title. Graham describes her as-yet-untitled album, which is set for an April release, as also carrying a “throwback” sound, with main influences including TLC, Boyz II Men, Blackstreet and Prince.

“I spent most of my time in music– at least for the songs that garnered attention– singing other people’s work,” says Graham. “I want to be honest about that because I am finally doing what I’ve always wanted to do and making music that I’ve always wanted to make.”
The Switzerland native released her debut EP, Against The Wall, in 2012, and has worked with producers like Mitch Allen and Damon Elliott. Her 2013 single “Power” was also premiered on Billboard.com.
