It’s hard to think about celebrities getting starstruck — or at least being so transparent about it — but way back when Taylor Swift was just a 19-year-old country starlet, she was pretty much known for her surprised reactions.
Swift was also known for her breakup songs, including her infamous split with Joe Jonas, which she detailed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2008. Prior to her Ellen? visit, Swift had mentioned that she had a massive celebrity crush on Justin Timberlake (as do many). So in typical Ellen fashion, DeGeneres brought Timberlake out to give Swift and her best friend Abigail some love advice.

“Why are men such jerks, Justin?” Ellen asked as Swift sits in awe. Timberlake responded that women are simply smarter than men. He added, “I’ve accepted that. I’m much more comfortable in my stupidity.”
This was also the start of a monumental friendship for the two pop stars — Swift brought out Timberlake to perform on her 1989 tour in 2015, and the “Can’t Stop the Feeling” singer honored the Reputation star when she won the iHeartRadio Music Award for best tour in 2016.
With Swift about to embark on another massive tour and Timberlake just announcing a new album coming next month, celebrate #ThrowbackThursday this week with a clip of their meeting that began their high-profile friendship.
