
A $13 million legal defense fund set up by more than 300 women who work in film, television and theater to combat sexual harassment and assault in low-wage workplaces has earned the support of a number of high-profile celebrities, including Justin Timberlake and Christina Perri.
The initiative, spearheaded by a group of actresses including America Ferrera, Ashley Judd, Natalie Portman, Rashinda Jones, Eva Longoria and Reese Witherspoon and producer Shonda Rhimes, was launched on New Year’s Day (Jan. 1) with a “Dear Sisters” letter that stated the group’s goal of addressing “the systemic inequality and justice in the workplace that have kept underrepresented groups from reaching their full potential.”
