If you haven’t had the opportunity to meet your favorite artist yet, don’t lose hope. At least that’s the sage advice 88-year-old Bette Maloney would probably give you after she got some face time with Justin Timberlake on Monday night (May 14). The grandmother, nicknamed “Nammie,” caught Timberlake’s attention after a video went viral last month of her reaction to receiving tickets to his Man of the Woods Tour.
During his stop in Orlando, the “Say Something” singer treated Maloney to a special meet-and-greet along with her daughter and granddaughters. He welcomed Maloney with a massive (walking cane-free) hug as she adorably repeated, “I’m so excited to meet you!”
Maloney came prepared, presenting Timberlake with a tiny, handmade Man of the Woods-themed T-shirt for his 3-year-old son, Silas. She also snuck in a kiss on his cheek, but of course, not without asking if his wife Jessica Biel would approve.
“He’s a class act, y’all,” granddaughter Sarah Watson captioned a photo of the singer and Maloney on Instagram. “Humbled by and beyond grateful for all the love shown to sweet Nammie tonight. @justintimberlake was kind, lovely and wayyyyyy cute in person. Best night ever, and FOR SURE best concert we’ve ever seen.”
The concert was made even better by Timberlake giving a special shoutout to Maloney mid-performance.
“There was a pretty little lady that ended up on the news here by the name of Nammie. She is 88 years old,” Timberlake explained to the audience. “I met her earlier tonight. Wherever you are in the audience tonight…There she is. I love you!”
