Even though some fans had mixed reactions to Justin Timberlake’s Super Bowl halftime show, he did manage to sing all his hits, show off his signature dance moves, and spark a meme during the 13-minute time slot. But besides his appearance at Sunday night’s game, there are some memorable JT performances that fans need to see. After his days with *NSYNC, Timberlake launched a mega-successful solo career, starting with his 2002 album Justified. Since then, he has made a number of appearances at awards shows, talk shows and festivals — each performance better than the last. Here are 10 of his best live moments.
“Can’t Stop the Feeling!” – Oscars, 2017
Justin Timberlake opened the Oscars in 2017 by singing the mega-hit “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” Starting off in the crowd, Timberlake made his way to the stage, then added in a funky breakdown to the Trolls song. It was a fun way to kick off the Oscars, where the track was nominated for an award.
Medley – Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, 2013
Timberlake stopped by his pal Jimmy Fallon’s show in 2013 to perform a medley of his hit songs, starting off with “Like I Love You” with a full band. He then smoothly transitioned into “My Love,” where he ditched the guitar to vibe to the music. Next up, he went into the classic breakup song “Cry Me a River,” featuring an epic guitar solo. The set ended with his classic “Seniorita.”
“My Love” – iTunes Festival 2013
Timberlake appeared at the iTunes Festival in 2013 to perform a live band version of his 2006 song “My Love.” Complete with his iconic falsetto and Michael Jackson-inspired moves, the performance was a classic.
“Cry Me a River” – Billboard Music Awards, 2003
Featuring intense fake rain sounds and a chorus dressed in metallic robes, a young Justin Timberlake sang his single “Cry Me a River” at the Billboard Music Awards in 2003. Of course, his appearance wouldn’t be complete without his own iconic beatboxing.
“What Goes Around…Comes Around” – Grammys, 2007
At the 49th annual Grammy Awards, Timberlake performed what he considered the best song he had written so far: FutureSex/LoveSounds‘ “What Goes Around…Comes Around.” The performance started out with JT on piano, then he shoved a handheld camera in his face for a super close-up.
“Suit & Tie” – Saturday Night Live, 2013
After introducing himself to the stage, JT and the Tennessee kids performed “Suit & Tie” complete with Timberlake’s smooth dance moves and a cameo from Jay-Z. Of course, everyone on the stage was dressed in a black and white suit, with Timberlake donning a bow tie.
“My Love/SexyBack” – MTV VMAs, 2006
Right after he dropped FutureSex/LoveSounds, JT appeared on the MTV VMAs to perform two of his biggest hits. Starting out with an epic one-minute solo dance, Justin launched into a medley of “My Love” and “SexyBack.”
“Four Minutes” with Madonna – Sticky & Sweet Tour, 2008
Timberlake made a special appearance on Madonna’s tour to perform their hit song “4 Minutes,” complete with sexually charged dance moves and moving video screens.

In addition to killing his own songs, JT also belted out some covers, including the 2013 cover of “Shake Your Body (To the Ground)” by The Jacksons, with some Michael Jackson-inspired dance moves.

While his performance received some mixed reviews, JT did play the hits, including “Rock Your Body” and “My Love,” plus his new track “Filthy.” He also included a special Prince tribute, since the game was in Minneapolis. Of course, many fans were not into his outfit, but his moves were on point.
