Since nude photos of Justin Bieber surfaced last week, the singer has stayed silent on the issue — until now.
In an interview with Access Hollywood that will air on Monday, Bieber broke his silence on the pictures, which showed him standing naked on a balcony while he was on vacation in Bora Bora. “My first thing was like…how can they do this?” Bieber says. “Like, I feel super violated. Like, I feel like I can’t step outside and feel like I can go outside naked. Like, you should feel comfortable in your own space… especially that far away.”
Justin Bieber Nude Photos: Are They Legal?
While he clearly takes it seriously — his team even issued a cease-and-desist letter insisting that New York’s Daily News remove the photos from its website — Bieber still made light of the matter: “That was shrinkage for me,” he laughed.
Bieber has a lot to celebrate musically: His next album, Purpose, arrives in November, and he just achieved his first No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with “What Do You Mean?” last month. “I’ve been around for so long that people thought that maybe I had a No. 1 already. And I’ve had No. 1s, like No. 1 on iTunes and stuff, but to have a Billboard No. 1 is really special because it’s like everything added up together,” he said. “I debuted at No. 1, and I think I’m the youngest person to debut at number one, which is pretty awesome.”
He was, indeed, the youngest male artist ever to debut at No. 1.
