Singer-songwriter Julien Baker has returned to the NPR Tiny Desk to share some personal songs off her second LP Turn Off The Lights.
Baker, who made her first appearance on the series in March of 2016, performed stunning and heart-wrenching arrangements of “Hurt Less” and “Even,” accompanied by violinist Camille Faulkner, then ended with “Appointments” by herself, with nothing but a guitar, loop pedal, and piano.
According to NPR, they don’t usually ask an artist back for a second Tiny Desk Concert just because they have a new release. But for Baker, they “had to make an exception,” writes Bob Boilen. “With all the love that surrounded her first visit to the NPR offices, I reached out to ask if she would be willing to do something different this time around.”
Baker then went to Twitter to announce a tour, which kicks off in April. Check out the entire Tiny Desk concert below.
