Long and overdue, Jukebox the Ghost is finally back on the music scene with their new single, “Stay the Night,” premiering exclusively on Billboard today (April 6).
Following an extensive tour leave from their self-titled album in 2014, the release of the fresh track gives us a taste of what’s to come for their anticipated album.
“We are very excited to share a brand new single “Stay the Night,” which we recorded last fall in Los Angeles amidst a ‘taco cleanse,’” explains the indie-pop band. “Though the band has about three albums worth of songs written since our last album, this song felt like an exciting one to let go of as we approach open-window-weather back home in NYC.”
The vision of the song draws upon inspiration from Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now,” which is evident in the stylistic choices and the colorful lightness of the melody. Jukebox’s own sound laced together with the icon’s influence, made a seamless and perfect combination of the two.
The inspiration came as no surprise with the band who intensively studied Queen’s music for the past two years for their “HalloQueen” gig. The special event takes place every October, where Jukebox takes on a Queen persona, playing a set of cover songs, while performing their own material as well.
