On Saturday (June 8), the Jonas Brothers surprised fans at Capital’s Summertime Ball by performing an incredible rendition of “Year 3000” alongside the U.K.-based rock band Busted — the group that originally penned the song.
The two bands jammed out onstage together in a high-energy version of the song that left stadium attendees bobbing their heads and singing along. Busted’s three members — James Bourne, Matt Willis and Charlie Simpson — traded lines on the opening verse before the Jonas Brothers joined them in unison on the chorus.
“Year 3000” was released by Busted in 2002, where it reached No. 2 on the U.K. singles chart. The Jonas Brothers dropped their cover in 2006 with slightly altered lyrics, and since then the track has become a staple for the group.
