JoJo revealed on Thursday (Aug. 20) that she was pulling the Tory Lanez collab “Comeback” from the upcoming deluxe version of her Good to Know album after Megan Thee Stallion confirmed that the rapper is the one who shot her in a recent incident.
In the wake of the news, a fan said that they’ve heard Lanez is not going to be on the deluxe version of JoJo’s album, due out next Friday (Aug. 28). JoJo tweeted in response, “Def took him TF off.”
“Comeback” is the eighth track on JoJo’s most recent album and at press time the version with Lanez and 30 Roc was still available on streaming services. In a statement to Billboard, the singer said, “It felt like the right and necessary thing to do, out of respect and love for Meg.”
JoJo’s move came just hours after Meg (born Megan Pete) responded on Instagram Live on Thursday to suggestions that she was not being truthful about the gunshot injuries she suffered in an incident involving Lanez last month.
“You shot me, and you got your publicist and your people going to these blogs lying and s–t. Stop lying,” the 25-year-old rapper said in the live stream about Lanez (born Daystar Peterson), 28, who allegedly opened fire inside a car after attending a party in the Hollywood Hills, striking Meg in the feet. “Why lie? I don’t understand. I tried to keep the situation off the internet, but you’re dragging it.” Lanez was arrested on July 13 and charged with carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle; he posted bail and is due back in court in October. Representatives for Lanez had not returned requests for comment at press time.
Pete said she did not tell Los Angeles police who came to the scene on July 12 about the shooting because she was afraid of the legal repercussions, and afraid for her safety. “I didn’t tell the police nothing because I didn’t want us to get in no more trouble,” she said in the video.
