Miley Cyrus’ latest release, the experimental Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, has a new fan: John Mayer.
The singer-songwriter shared his thoughts about the album in a series of tweets on Sunday, Oct. 4 – and, needless to say, he seems to be enchanted by her new musical direction.

“I’m totally transfixed by this Miley Cyrus album,” Mayer — who will soon be performing alongside members of the Grateful Dead in group they’re calling Dead & Company — wrote alongside a quote from one of Cyrus’ new tracks, “Lighter.”
“This is why I love music,” he added. “You can be one artist one year and the next discover some crazy light inside yourself and shine it everywhere.”
“You can’t try to make something like this. You just tap the vein and don’t question a single instinct,” he continued. Soon after, he concluded, “Comes down to this: This is a masterwork of whack genius.”

This Miley album is amazing. You can’t try to make something like this. You just tap the vein and don’t question a single instinct.
