Jimmy Kimmel took Miley Cyrus and Mark Ronson’s hit single, “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart,” a little too seriously in a segment for Thursday night’s (Feb. 7) episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!
After introducing Cyrus and Ronson’s song and music video, Kimmel explained that he had some thoughts about it. “Something about it was just not right,” he said.
“This is dumb, it’s not even true,” Kimmel said as he watched the video. “I’m sorry, but I have no choice, I’m gonna have to sue you guys.” The video then revealed Cyrus and Ronson sitting beside Kimmel, baffled.
The late night show host said that he has no problem with a song, but “the title of the song is a lie.” Kimmel then proceeded to demonstrate how different objects break.
“You guys, I know this is fun and everything, but you’re taking it too literally,” Cyrus later protested. “The song’s not supposed to be literal — it’s a simile.” When Kimmel revealed he wasn’t aware of what a simile is, the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriters took the host to a public library to enlighten him.
The video ended with a message for viewers: “Get High On Grammar!”
