When it comes to Jhené Aiko, music is a family affair. The pop-R&B songstress took the stage alongside her 9-year-old daughter, Namiko, for a featured performance on VH1’s third annual Dear Mama: A Love Letter to Moms, which aired Sunday.
During the Mother’s Day special, the stunning mother-daughter duo performed “Sing to Me,” a track from Aiko’s second studio album, Trip, which was released in September. Namiko is featured on the recording of the track and proved she could deliver the same quality during a live performance — it must be in her genes. The pair alternated back and forth between the lines of the lyrics as their delicately smooth vocals blended in adorable harmony.
Among other mom-appreciating performers included Ne-Yo, Patti LaBelle and Jessie J, who brought the house down with a rousing medley of her empowering ballad “Queen” and Whitney Houston‘s “I’m Every Woman.” You can watch these performances and more on VH1’s website.
