Jessie Ware dropped the moody video for “Midnight” on Thursday morning (Aug. 3), putting a spooky visual to the track from her upcoming third studio album, due later this year.
The clip, shot on the streets of Mallorca, Spain, was directed by Tom Beard and is the second part of a two-part-story — with the prequel expected to follow soon. “We shot from 1am until the sun came up and the video was so much fun to make,” Jessie says about the project.
Channeling European film noir, the video follows Ware wandering dark streets, presumably sometime after midnight, with flashes of a mysterious male body submerged in the ocean. The mystery ends on a cliffhanger with Jessie on a beach at dawn with a siren going off. We’ll have to wait for the prequel for the full story to be revealed.
