It’s not totalloy true that Jerry Seinfeld doesn’t do hugs. He just doesn’t dole them out to people he doesn’t know on red carpets during interviews. But, because he’s one of the world’s premiere stand-ups, Seinfeld knows the magic of a great callback. That explains why during a visit to Melbourne on Tuesday (Aug. 8) Jerry posted a tweet showing him hugging his longtime manager, George Shapiro, in front of a mural of that legendary time he turned down a snuggle from Kesha.

The joke was, of course, a reference to the awkward moment two months ago when Kesha bum-rushed the Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee star on the red carpet at the National Night of Laughter and Song event in Washington, D.C. and Seinfeld turned down a hug from the singer he didn’t recognize.
“When you get to be my age and you’ve done a couple things, you have your own reality,” he explained at the time. “In my reality… I don’t hug a total stranger.”
